Getting Your GED

Were you not much of a student during your Aurora, Illinois high school days? Perhaps you didn't care for studying and taking tests and were more focused on learning about electromagnetic shielding and nothing else? Or you had to drop out to care for your family? Whatever it was that prevented you from graduating and fulfilling your dream of becoming an architect in Toronto or Aurora can now be taken care of by completing your GED.

Getting your GED is the first step towards bettering your education and attending college. A college diploma or certificate can open a wide range of career opportunities that you just don't have right now. Perhaps you want to teach at an ESL Toronto school or want to be an accountant. Whatever your career dreams are, get your GED so you can be on your way to a more fulfilling career and life.

The GED stands for General Education Development. In order to receive your GED certificate you have to complete and pass tests in five different subjects. Those subject areas include, math, science, social studies, reading and writing. In order to pass the test, you must score higher than 60% of the current senior high school graduates. The tests must be completed in person at a certified GED test center if you live in Canada or the United States. There are private testing companies that can administer the test if you live outside of those countries. The test can be taken in either English, French or Spanish. They're also available through large print, braille and audio cassette. So you really have no excuses to not take the GED test in order to leave your job as an Aurora or Durham Region Caterer and plan for a brighter future.

Try not to dwell on the past and the reasons why you were never able to complete high school. That's in the past. Concentrate on the present and focus on the future. Obtaining a GED certificate will lead you to an array of opportunities you never had before. Whether you want to work in a Vancouver auto body shop or an Aurora insurance firm, the GED will help get you there. You just have to make sure you want it bad enough. So go out and study and prepare yourself to answer questions related to math, science, social studies and the language arts of reading and writing. Good luck!
