Colleges And Universities

For those living or planning to live in Aurora, Illinois, and looking to earn a higher education, there are several options available to help start a new career. Whether it's your ambition to be a videographer, Toronto or Chicago business professional, or a teacher, Aurora University offers programs that can help you on your path to success.

With around 4,000 students attending, classes can be both intimate and engaging. Despite its size, there are 40 undergraduate majors and 34 minors to choose from, as well as 8 masters degrees, several education and business graduate certificates, and even a Doctor of Education. With more options than a Canadian trademark firm, students have the opportunity to choose a field best suited to their passions in any of the three colleges that make up Aurora University: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education, or the College of Professional Studies.

The College of Arts and Sciences is broken into four faculties, covering a variety of programs. Natural Sciences and Mathematics offers graduate and undergraduate programs in fields such as Health Science, Mathematics, and Chemistry. Fine Arts covers theatre and music, Humanities focuses on languages, philosophy, and religion, and Social and Behavioural Sciences teaches law and psychology. As sturdy as a design keel, these courses will help steer students towards a solid future.

Aurora's College of Education sets out a curriculum designed to help students forge careers in several fields of education. There are undergraduate programs for those interested in elementary, secondary, and special education. In the School of Health and Physical Education faculty, programs include Athletic Training, Health Education, and Sports Management to name a few. Also available are Graduate programs in fields like Education Leadership and Reading Instruction, as well as Doctoral programs for Administration or Curriculum and Instruction. No matter the field, students can find solid footing on the path to a career in education.

In the College of Professional Studies, career foundations are built stronger than tamper evident seals in fields like accounting, business, finance, nursing and social work. The Dunham School of Business offers undergraduate degrees in a variety of business and financial sectors, as well as a graduate degree in Business Administration. Those interested in nursing and health care can earn an undergraduate in nursing from Aurora, and anyone passionate about social working can earn an undergraduate or graduate degree from the School of Social Work.

An integral part of the university experience is, of course, student life. At Aurora, students can participate in a variety of collective activities, including social and athletic organizations, as well as intramural competitions. Though you shouldn't expect to party at the kind of slurry mixer shown in most fraternity movies, campus living brings students together in ways the classroom simply can't.

Though a solid and rewarding career is the ultimate goal at Aurora, the experiences students share with classmates and faculty can provide knowledge far more memorable than any text book, making Aurora University a vital part of this Illinois city's continuing future.
